Welcome to the Summer Reading Trail

This project invites authors to add a free read to their website and connect their read page with other participating writers. The trail of stories will give writers a chance to connect with readers and promote their work. It's a great opportunity to increase your name and cover art recognition.

Links and stories will be refreshed monthly, and authors may participate in as many or as few months as desired. Displaying cover art and including product sale page links is encouraged.


FAQ

Q: Can I link to a blog?
A: Yes. The link must go directly to the post with the free read, and the read posted must fit the free read requirements.

Q: Do I have to have to participate every month?
A: No. You can have a read every month or just one.

Q: How long should the reads be?
A: 2,000 to 3,000 words is suggested, but there is no firm limit.

Q: Can I use this to promote my book release?
A: Absolutely. The Summer reading trail is a promotional tool for authors, please use it as such.

Q: Can I use the same read every month?
A: No. A new read should be provided every month. The previous month's links will not be deleted as we go, so there is no need to repost.

Q: I'm not sure I have time to write anything new. Can I post something I already have?
A: Yes. The free reads to not need to be written just for this event.

Q: I'm already participating in another free read program (i.e. Excerpt Monday). Can I use that read for the Trail?
A: Yes. Please make sure cross-posting the read does not violate the terms of the other promotion's participation agreement before joining the Trail.

Q: What will I have to do besides post a free read?
A: The Summer Reading Trail relies on group promotion. You will be asked to promote the Trail by placing links using whatever tools you have available. This may include: Twitter, Face Book, personal website or blog, inclusion in pre-existing newsletters, links in group or forum signature, email signature.



Free reads must fit rating group in terms of target audience, language, sexual content and violence. Language must be rated conservatively. if in doubt, please choose the more adult rating trail. Sexual content must be between consenting adults only. Sexual activites by minors and rape are prohibited. Beastiality, including shifters in non-human form is prohibited. Golden showers and other bodily fuctions for the purpose of titillation are banned. Violence, assault and murder for the purpose of titillation are banned from the trail. Any and all sexual activity, including fetishes, must be safe, sane, and consensual.
